Albert Porta
Accredited Tai Chi Instructor

Albert started learning Tai Chi (TC) for Health & Recreation about 15 years ago. He says, “We went to 2 other teachers before discovering Master Charles’ wonderful skills and willingness to impart knowledge freely.”

Albert feels that TC has given him confidence to achieve levels he would not have dreamed of reaching. This has led him to compete at all levels including internationally, and recently, to commence competition judging.

About teaching TC, Albert says, “It’s an honour to pass on the knowledge and help people achieve their personal goals (their reasons for doing TC).”

Along with partner, Denise Appelbee, Albert is co-proprietor of our Mornington Peninsula School, now also providing classes on Phillip Island, which was established in July 1996.

Currently working towards Black Sash, 4th Degree, Albert is also a National Wushu Judge officiating at State and National Levels. He is a former Committee Member of the Wushu and TC Practitioners Association and, in 2006, completed Wushu Level 1 of the National Officiating Accreditation Scheme.

In October 2004 Albert represented Australia at the First World Traditional Wushu Festival, winning Gold and Silver medals. In 1996 he attended Beijing Institute of Physical Education, in China, studying under Head TC Coach, Yang Li.
