Denise Appelbee
Accredited Tai Chi Instructor

Denise started learning Tai Chi (TC) for health and recreation about 15 years ago. She says that "TC is now a way of life and that “because of it we have our beautiful daughter Katherine.”

Denise sees it as her mission to slow everything down. She gets great joy from seeing her students’ skills develop.

Along with partner, Albert Porta, Denise is co-proprietor of our Mornington Peninsula Satellite School, now also providing classes on Phillip Island, which was established in July 1996.

The Mornington Peninsula and Phillip Island school currently offers a full range of classes from beginners, through to all levels of advanced. Grading classes are also available. It also provides corporate sessions, and ad hoc seminars covering Chi Kung and TC.

  • Has been training in TC with the Golden Lion Academy for about 15 years
  • Teaching TC and Dao Yin Chi Kung for 13 years
  • Accredited TC Coach with the Australian Sports Commission (NCAS), 2004
  • Achieved TC 1st Degree Black Belt in 2001
  • In 1996 attended Beijing Institute of Physical Education, in China, studying under Head TC Coach, Yang Li.
