Tai Chi QiGong Healing Exercises The 5 Animal Frolics Wu Qin Xi

Not the powerful and agile movements of Kung Fu! Not the dynamic and targeted movements of Dim Mak! Not the slow continuous footwork of Tai Chi! Introducing the fantastic flexibility, co-ordination and ‘fun’ of The 5 Animal Frolics. You can see in the accompanying photo the fun enjoyed with 5 Animals frolicking... in full swing.

A little fun with 5 Animal frolic Qigong Tai Chi Form

At the recent workshops held in April, Si Jie Chris Everett guided us through the ancient form of Wu Qin Xi, or The 5 Animal Frolics. Interesting details were provided by Si Jie of the ancient form and its historically famous creator, givingus an insight into the form’s intent and purpose.

With a calm mind and body we began the form and slowly, in a relaxed state, we allowed ourselves to transform into each of the 5 Animals – attempting to identify and emulate in our minds the intrinsic characteristics of each animal in succession:

> The calm and controlled power of the tiger > The alert and agile mind of the deer > The outward strength of the walking and lumbering bear > The cheeky, clever and quick-witted monkey > The serenity, poise and grace of the bird.

Throughout the day we felt our muscles, tendons and sinews gently stretch as our joints moved through their full range of motion, as we improved our body awareness and control.

I personally loved each workshop I attended and, like many other participants I have spoken to since, have committed to put my learning into regular practice.
